While attending summer camp in 1978, he uncovered a love for pottery. After studying semiotics and art history at Brown University and a brief career as a talent agent in the early 90s, Adler took to his true love of making pots full-time. In 1994, after accepting his first order from Barneys, New York, Jonathan’s career as a potter soared. Adler has been celebrated for the mod shapes, vibrant colors and organic eye-popping patterns that are the signature of his work today. His “happy, handcrafted, and luxe” designs are translated into his paintings with a sense of fun and whimsy. Adler’s pottery business has grown into a thriving interior design business, encompassing several retail stores in New York, Los Angeles, Miami, San Francisco, and Chicago. Adler’s brand of home products, Jonathan Adler Happy Home, has expanded into bedding, bath accessories, stationery, dinnerware, table linens and framing.
